Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club — Terms & Conditions
Welcome to the Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club (NJSSC). We are a volunteer-run, non-profit organization. By registering, you agree to the following rules and conditions, which help us keep skating safe, organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
1) Safety & Risk
- Speed skating is a high-speed sport with inherent risks of injury.
- All skaters must complete Speed Skating Ontario (SSO) registration and required waivers before participating each season.
- All required safety equipment must be worn at every practice and competition (see club website for details).
2) Parental Responsibilities
- Parents/guardians must be reachable during practices and competitions.
- Skaters under 18 must be supervised before and after sessions — NJSSC is not a custodial organization.
3) Volunteering & Club Support
- NJSSC is volunteer-run. Every family must support the club by either volunteering or making the alternative donation (set each season).
- Families who agree to volunteer may be asked to assist with mat setup/teardown, rinkside safety, equipment care, fundraising, registration support, meet organization, or other activities as needed.
- Volunteering helps keep the club safe, affordable, and sustainable.
4) Refunds
- Membership, session fees, SSO/SSC fees, and equipment rentals are non-refundable.
- If a facility cancels ice time and refunds NJSSC, fees may be adjusted or credited at season end.
5) Fees, Payment Terms & Non-Payment
- All membership fees, session fees, and required charges must be paid in full by the payment deadline communicated at registration.
- Skaters may not participate in practices, camps, or club activities if their account is overdue.
- NJSSC reserves the right to suspend on-ice and off-ice participation for non-payment until the account is brought up to date.
- Continued participation without payment is not permitted.
- Failure to resolve outstanding balances after reasonable attempts to contact the parent/guardian may result in removal from the program, without refund.
- Payment plans or extensions may be considered only if requested in advance and approved by the club.
6) Photos & Media
- NJSSC may share photos, videos, or event results on the club website, social media, or local news outlets.
- If you do not wish your child to be included, please notify the club at registration or by email.
7) Code of Conduct
We value respectful communication and want families to feel comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification through the appropriate channels.
- All members, parents/guardians, coaches, volunteers, officials, and skaters are expected to treat one another with respect at all times.
- Parents/guardians must not coach from the boards or interfere with training sessions.

- Questions, concerns, or feedback must be raised respectfully and through the club’s formal feedback process.
- Only feedback submitted through the club’s formal process will be reviewed and responded to.
